It's a Snow Day for Adults

Has the recession taken a bit of the fun out of your life? Does it feel like 2010 will be more of the same? Is that stressing you out?

That'S NO Way to start the New Year. Take a break, and join us for a day of merriment and laughter.

Fun? What kind of fun?

Focusing on a lot of priorities can distract you from an essential element for happiness and calmness, namely, play. Imagine having more fun without the stress as you begin the New Year. Studies show that play can help you feel more creative, optimistic, and adaptive to change. Treat yourself to an afternoon of full and engaging play with others who are ready to shake the guilt, let their hair down, and cut loose. Even if you're not stressed, come along anyway for the good times.

SNOW Day isn't about skiing or snow shoeing. You'll have to go elsewhere for that kind of fun. Bring a play date and revel in the outdoors as you play games, meet interesting people, and learn a bit more about your potential for personal growth. Leave the stress and competitive spirit behind. They'll only get in the way of the fun.

Make a snow angel, build a snowman, or make snow carvings.
Join the tribute to the Winter Olympics with a specialized version of the games, complete with opening and closing ceremonies.
Roast marshmallows and hot dogs over a bonfire.
Be a kid all over again, if only for a few hours.
Adults over 21 only, please.

Is that all there is to it? No way! Besides the fun and games, you'll leave feeling refreshed, content, and committed to incorporating more play into your life. You don't have to be an athlete to have this kind of fun, though there will be some physical exertion.

Bring a playful attitude, a crazy imagination, and a willingness to be a bit vulnerable. Oh, and be ready for whatever the weather might bring. The games will unfold around what Mother Nature has planned, so dress appropriately.

Date: Saturday, January 16, 2010

Time: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Location: Rustic outdoor event site at Hyak Market, in the heart of Snoqualmie Pass

Fee: $80 - Includes round-trip van transportation from South Bellevue P&R, full complement of games and activities to entice your inner child, and a light lunch.
